Pickfords Gives Back - Announcement from Monica Childs Marketing

Monica Childs Marketing (MCM), based in Cape Town, offers marketing opportunities at key national sports events.

Corporate Social Investment is the backbone to MCM’s Goodie Bag service. Our business not only ensures that companies and event participants benefit from brand exposure and product trial, but that they are also supporting local non-profit organizations.  

Services For The Blind (SFTB), a non-profit organization in Gauteng , carefully and professionally pack 30 000 Goodie Bags for the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge each November.  This contract between MCM and SFTB enables the organization to employ and give training to 44 disabled people and 120 single mothers, all from disadvantaged communities.

Pickfords have become an integral part of our team, transporting the Goodie Bags from SFTB to Sandton Conference Centre , totally free of charge. Over the years the cooperation between Pickfords staff and SFTB employees has ensured a smooth  and timeous delivery for the goodie bags to SCC, for collection by the thousands of cyclists at registration.

The wonderful service that Pickfords provides, enables MCM to renew the contract with SFTB annually. Without Pickfords charitable assistance, MCM would not be able to continue to support the great work that SFTB is doing.

Pickfords South Africa unveils its modernised logo

Pickfords recently updated its logo. The word Pickfords is now in print, not cursive, and the slogan ‘Around the corner around the world’ is no longer in capital letters. The updated logo is clear, bold and instantly recognisable. The changes were implemented to modernise the brand's well-known identity and make it more striking to emphasise the brand's prominence in the market. As always, Pickfords keeps on moving…

Pickfords relocates Durban’s international airport

Moving house can be tricky. Now imagine trying to move an airport…This was the challenge faced by Pickfords when it helped relocate Durban’s international airport 60km north to La Mercy on Durban’s North Coast. On 1 May 2010, the old Durban International Airport (DIA) was replaced by the multi-billion rand state-of-the-art King Shaka International Airport (KSIA).

A 30-day deadline was given to complete the relocation process, which commenced on 1 April 2010. A staggering 100 000 cubic feet of office furniture, 4 000 cartons, 40 safes and 1 000 computer work stations were packed, transported, off-loaded and positioned at the new location. Durban International Airport had to stay 100 percent operational until the very last flight, an incoming plane from Johannesburg on April 30. The first flight out of King Shaka International Airport took place hours later on May 1 at 06h30.

The relocation process was certainly no easy task but it turned out to be extremely successful and was another deserved feather in the Pickfords cap.

SANDF (South African National Defense Force) Golf day: August 2009

Earlier this month, Pickfords Removals was invited to sponsor a hole at the annual SANDF Golf Day at Services Golf Club in Thaba Tswane.

Pickfords sponsored the first tee handing refreshments to the golfers. Embroidered golf towels were also handed to each player.

Although our 4 ball did not win the day, it was definitely a resounding success.

Pickfords Durban takes 1st place in Regional Packer/Loader/Porter Competition

We are delighted to announce that Pickfords Durban won several awards at a regional competition, organised by the Professional Movers’ Association (PMA) of South Africa, on 13 June, 2009. PMA South Africa crowned one of its members, Pickfords Durban, as the Regional winners for a second consecutive year. In the categories of Best Supervisor, Loader, Porter and Second Best Packer, this team has proven why the world trusts Pickfords to be a driving force behind its move. Prizes were awarded as follows:
