Operations during the COVID-19 lockdown

To our customers affected by the COVID-19 lockdown in South Africa

In line with the lockdown announced on 23 March 2020, Pickfords Removals is postponing any business activities that require face-to-face interaction, but continuing activities that can be carried out remotely.

While the lockdown is active

  • If your move is scheduled to take place before 01 May, your move coordinator will contact you to see how we can reschedule.
  • f you’re waiting for a quote, you will receive it shortly. No delays.
  • If you need a quote, we can quote you remotely using our Virtual Survey tool.
  • We’re still available by email and phone for all other queries. Technology has made it possible for us to get your call, no matter where we are.

If you are mid-move

Your shipment may be affected, since the coronavirus has affected the moving industry globally. Shipping companies are currently operating with reduced capacity, owing to reduced freight services (sea and air) and a shortage of empty containers. This may result in considerable delays (several weeks), changes in freight rates (sea and air), and additional costs for warehouse handling and unforeseen charges for forced storage.

Pickfords supports and commends the measures enacted by President Cyril Ramaphosa to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. However, we will also continue to support our customers while the lockdown is in place.
